What Can Death Teach Us About Life?

What happens to consciousness as we approach the end of life? And what can these experiences teach us about living more fully?

Join us for a fascinating free public presentation on Wednesday, November 11, at 7 p.m. at Messiah Lutheran Church in Marquette, "What Death Can Teach Us About Life," featuring Natalia Leontovich, senior research coordinator, NYU Langone Health Critical Care and Resuscitation Research Group, NYU Grossman School of Medicine.

Drawing on research conducted at NYU Langone Health, Leontovich will explore the emerging science of consciousness at the end of life, including recalled experiences of death following cardiac arrest and the phenomenon of terminal lucidity. Through these extraordinary experiences, the presentation will examine what we are learning about consciousness near death, the questions that remain unanswered, and what these experiences might teach us about compassion, connection, and the way we live.

Presented by the Cedar Tree Institute in collaboration with The Coming Home Project, the evening will also feature music by singer, songwriter, and guitarist, Michael Waite, and flutist, Stephan Leuthold.

Professionals, families, friends, and neighbors — all are welcome! This event is free, and RSVPs are encouraged. Register online at https://forms.gle/P3gPYbweYebYqoeH6 or email hpicotte@outlook.com.

This event is made possible through generous support from the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan Foundation, Michigan Health Endowment Fund, Superior Health Foundation, Northern Michigan University Center for Rural Health, and Michigan State University College of Human Medicine.
